Jason Chaffetz Is Coming To GW

February 25, 2018

Jason Chaffetz, former representative from Utah's 3rd District, is coming to speak to the GW College Republicans on Monday.

Mr. Chaffetz was a member of Congress for 9 years and served as the Chair of the House Oversight Committee during his last two years in office. While serving in the House of Representatives, he was at the center of the Benghazi investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other actors in the Obama administration.

This investigation helped make Mr. Chaffetz into a household name during the Obama years, as he pursued the truth of what happened that led to the death and destruction at the U.S. Consulate in Libya.

Another battle that Mr. Chaffetz fought was against Planned Parenthood. During his time in office, as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, he led hearings against the now former President of PP, Cecile Richards. He questioned her on the number of abortions that PP performs as well as her own salary.

Throughout his career, Jason Chaffetz has been a prominent supporter of the conservative cause.

After resigning from his Congressional office in the summer of 2017, Mr. Chaffetz signed as a contributor at Fox News, where he appears often while continuing to live in his home state of Utah. He focuses on political analysis on both Fox News and the Fox Business Network during daytime and primetime shows.

When he arrives in Foggy Bottom, some of the topics Chaffetz will cover include his findings in the Benghazi investigation, Hillary Clinton’s emails, and the Fast and Furious scandal–– all of which occurred during President Obama’s time in office.

We will also learn and talk about Mr. Chaffetz’s time as the Chair of the House Oversight Committee from 2015 to 2017.

Tomorrow, be sure to attend "What Really Happened" featuring Jason Chaffetz at 7:30 pm in the School of Media and Public Affairs, Room B07. Doors open at 7:15 pm. Perhaps think of a question, as there will be a period of Q&A after the Mr. Chaffetz's speech.
