We are currently in the midst of one of the greatest falls from grace in modern political history. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, formerly the Vice Presidential candidate and a prospective 2028 presidential candidate, has had his entire career completely unravel in the past few weeks.

Tim Walz built his career on carefully pretending to be a Midwestern moderate, despite governing with aggressive, often disastrous, progressive policies that appealed mostly to the far and radical left.

While Walz has long had issues with the Trump administration and also suffered a brutal election loss alongside Kamala Harris in 2024, he has remained in relatively good standing in his home state of Minnesota. That is, of course, until it was revealed that billions of dollars were being stolen through an elaborate fraud scheme right under his nose - and perhaps even with his involvement.

Exposed by independent journalist Nick Shirley, the fraud destroyed any remaining credibility and status Walz had. The backlash, pressure, and questions surrounding this fraud scheme would ultimately lead Walz to announce he would end his gubernatorial reelection campaign and, with it, his political career.

As of early Jan., Walz hasn’t decided to resign as governor. However, as federal and Congressional investigations have opened into Walz's conduct and involvement in the wider fraud scheme, the outcome does not look pretty. The once celebrated Democrat has now found himself increasingly politically isolated, toxic, and defined by the disasters ahead of him instead of his history.

Walz, the man who could’ve been our Vice President, is now fighting to hold onto his gubernatorial office before his term ends. The story of Tim Walz is really one of hubris, misplaced priorities, and what happens when politicians forget who they really answer to: the people.
